COEXISTENCE OF NATURE AND GEOMETRIC FORMS

ArtsyGraphic_DraganaMilovic_V4.jpg

Dragana Milovic, born in Berane, Montenegro in 1969, earned her art degree in painting from the Academy of Fine Arts at the University of Belgrade in Belgrade, Serbia. After an initial period of artistic painting in Belgrade she moved to London in the United Kingdom, where she lived, painted/created and taught art for 15 years. In 2017, Dragana relocated to the United States. She currently lives and works as a professional artistic painter in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

Dragana has exhibited her work in a number of exhibitions, both solo and group exhibitions and art symposiums throughout Europe. Her works are a part of many public and private collections.

“My intention, with these works, is to realize harmony of composition and artistic skill with a particular accent on color which is an important element of my artistic expression.

Works created in this period are primarily abstract creations where periodically appear stylized motifs from nature with occasional and realistic depiction of animals, mostly birds.

The majority of the paintings present geometric shapes which are symbolic of civilization. These shapes relate to the urban man and woman and their thoughts and actions, in many variations, which reside in our proximity and which at times become dominant, the result being that it is no longer in harmony with nature.

Inclusion of a bird, animal or floral motif in the composition suggests of our need to be connected to nature regardless of our current state which is thrust upon us by contemporary life, particularly in large urban areas.

By combining these two motifs, I am able to highlight the differing impressions formed by the observer; fragility and vulnerability of the living being with respect to the firmness of geometric shapes.”

Enjoy the opportunity to view Dragana Milovic’s new work and meet the artist herself at Objets Trouvés during the exhibition's opening on Friday, September 10 from 5-7pm.
