“NE VOIS-TU RIEN VENIR?” EXHIBITION OPENING

  • @ Objets Trouvés 6504 North Western Avenue Oklahoma City, OK, 73116 United States (map)

Josette Simon-Gestin is a French artist who studied at Beaux-Arts and has exhibited her paintings, drawings, etchings, and collages internationally. Originating during the pandemic, Simon-Gestin’s new work captures her curiosity about the future, from being baffled to feeling depressed. She evokes an intensity and poetic feeling in her art, letting the mind travel without limits. The exhibition title is from a Charles Perrault book ‘Barbe Bleue’ and translates to, “do you not see something coming?”

Simon-Gestin has always painted women in a fantasy world. Her life of moving back and forth between France and the United States nourishes her art and inspires all of her series. She felt that waves, boats, undulations, opacity, transparency, swimmers, and watchers are the perfect metaphors for expressing the complexity of her feelings in this time. She dreams of traveling to far away places and leaving her home, but for now art is the place to travel without limits, even if only in her mind.

Enjoy the opportunity to view Josette Simon-Gestin’s new work at Objets Trouvés during the exhibition's opening on Thursday, October 21 from 5-7pm.
